UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI/MAPRONANO ACE 'TABLET DEVELOPMENT' WORKSHOP HELD AT THE SCHOOL OF PHARMACY

The Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmacy Practice, School of Pharmacy recently conducted a ‘Tablet development’ training workshop. The workshop held on 2nd to 6th December 2019 was funded by the University of Nairobi/Mapronano ACE collaboration.

This unique course was designed to integrate the key elements of tablet development with hands-on, practical experience in a small scale, lab scale test facility. The course was made up of theoretical lectures on aspects of tablet development and experimental sessions in which participants took part in unit operations directly linked to tablet formulation and manufacture.

The workshop attendees included postgraduate students from nutrition sciences, biotechnology, biochemistry, microbiology, chemistry, industrial chemistry, veterinary sciences, food sciences, bioengineering, mechanical engineering, pharmacognosy, herbal and traditional medicines; pharmacists from pharmaceutical manufacturing industries and compounding hospital pharmacies; production operators; analytical and quality control staff from pharmaceutical companies and regulatory agency staff.
