University of Nairobi, pre-service AMS training

The Department of Pharmacy, University of Nairobi in collaboration with the MSH MTaps program conducted a 2-day training on antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS). The training was done on two consecutive Saturdays on the 29th January and the 5th February, 2022. The target trainees were the senior Bpharm students from the final year BPharm V and Bpharm IV class.  The aim of the training was to impart knowledge, skills and attitudes on the preservice students to prepare them for participation in AMS activities upon graduation and release into the field.

MOGRA CHILDREN’S HOME NUPSA BAKE SALE

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year! Abiding by the Christmas spirit usually embodied by acts of kindness and love, Nairobi University Pharmacy Students’ Association (NUPSA) in collaboration with Kenya Pharmacy Students’ Association (KEPhSA) organized to visit Mogra children’s home to spend time and have fun with the children. This was to be a joint event with other local chapters offering Pharmacy. Funds were to be raised by the chapters to facilitate the event.

WORLD ANTIMICROBIAL AWARENESS WALK 2021

Pharmacy Students from the University of Nairobi flooded the streets on the 19TH of November, 2021 to mark the peak of the Antibiotic Resistance Awareness Week, in a fun filled campaign aimed at sensitizing the public on the proper use of medication and the progressing nuisance that is bacterial resistance to antibiotics. The students marched from their school singing rhymes created and fanned by the need at the moment.

WORLD PHARMACISTS’ DAY 2021-Interuniversity competition

 Introduction

 On September 25th, 2021, the Nairobi University Students Association (NUPSA) took part in the World Pharmacists Day- an interuniversity competition event that was held at Mount Kenya University from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. There were six chapters in total that were present; NUPSA, KEMUPSA, KUPSA, JPSA, MKUPSA, and KUPhSA. The theme was 'Together through tough times’.

 

FIRST YEAR ORIENTATION 2021

Every year there’s a new lot of KSCE leavers that are admitted to The University of Nairobi and last year wasn’t an exception. In September, Nairobi University Pharmacy Students’ Association (NUPSA) welcomed its first group of admitted student pharmacists and this was done in Chiromo Campus. After their registration at the Associate Dean’s Office, they were directed to the NUPSA Help desk ‘tent’ where they registered and made payments for lab coats, name tags as well as a NUPSA Registration fee.

Vice Chancellors Visit to the Department of Pharmacy

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama visited the department of Pharmacy on Monday 31st January 2022.
