On Saturday 24th September 2022 from 8 am to 5 pm EAT, Nairobi University Pharmacy Students Association (NUPSA) and other pharmacy students' association from different universities in the country convened at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) - College of Health Sciences to participate in an educational and scientific conference to commemorate the World Pharmacists Day, an annual event organized in partnership with the Pharmacy Students Association of Kenya (KEPhSA) and sponsored by the Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya (PSK).

The students in the Department of Pharmacy held a blood donation drive in collaboration with Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya (PSK). The drive was held on 29th June 2022 at the KMTC grounds
Ermias Mergia Terefe a PhD student at the University of Nairobi (UoN) Department of Pharmacology defended his thesis successfully on May 30, 2022.
The title of his Ph.D work was "In vitro and in silico pharmacological evaluation of antiretroviral activity of Croton species".
His Supervisors were Prof. Faith A. Okalebo, Prof. Solomon Derese and Dr. Joseph Muriuki.
Congratulations Dr. Ermias for completing your Ph.D in Molecular Pharmacology.
The Nairobi Innovation Week was held on 26th to 28th April 2022. The faculty of health sciences participated and five departments were represented: Pharmacy, Surgery, Obgyn, Global Health and Medical Microbiology.
The event which was held at Taifa Hall on March 23, 2022 was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama.
The ceremony brought together the UoN community to recognize and award outstanding staff and departments in various categories namely; performance contracting, research and innovation, long service, staff performance and special recognition.
Two researchers from the Department of Pharmacy were awarded for their registered inventions in the research and innovation awards category, they include; Dr. Sylvia Atiso Opanga and Dr. Shital Maru.
Following the celebration of the 200th anniversary of U.S Pharmacopoeia (USP).The department of pharmacy received five volumes of the U.S Pharmacopeia 43-National Formulary 38 (USP-NF) compendia. In 2020, the USP-NF trasitioned to being 100% onlinepublication. This commemorative printed editions represent the final physical copies of the USP-NF compendia.
The books were presented to the chairman Department of Pharmacy by Dr. Evans Sagwa Director, EAsterne and Southern Africa, Promoting the Qualty of Medicines Plus (QMP+) programme
The outgoing Chairman, Department of Pharmacy Dr. Kipruto A. Sinei. hands over to the incoming Chairman Dr. Eric Guantai on Tuesday, March 15, 2022.
Dr. Sinei took the opportunity to thank all the staff both teaching and non teaching for the tremendous support they gave him during his tenure.
And requested the memebrs of staff to continue according the same support to the new chairman.
The Department of Pharmacy would like to announce the appointment of Dr. Eric Guantai as the new chairman of the department. Dr. Guantai is a senior Lecturer in the Department of Pharmacy he takes over from Dr. Kipruto A. Sinei who has served as head of department for the last six years.
